As we all know, Russia invaded Ukraine, leaving millions of people fleeing their homes. It is reported now that approximately 11 million people have fled their homes due to the violence and destruction currently occurring.

Since I have spent the last 2.5 years working with Adventures in Missions, I know of ministry partners in Romania who have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to serving Ukrainian refugees for as long as this war and its effects are present. They have stepped fully and completely into the ministry of helping transport Ukrainian refugees to neighboring countries, caravaning with medical and basic supplies into Ukraine, and serving as temporary housing to refugees who are in transition.

The local church, and specifically Hope Church Romania,  has been faithfully serving these last sixty-plus days in the big and the small. They continue to faithfully serve and are in need of some additional hands. Many have come to assist in the ministry, and many have since returned home. Now it is my turn as my friend and I travel to Romania to join in the efforts of serving those in need. This will include playing with kiddos, giving moms a break, and trying to provide a small amount of “normal” for kids affected by war. This will also include packaging and transporting supplies into Ukraine. And this will look like riding many hours to different borders in support of newly made friends who are seeking safety in neighboring countries.

As I prepare to start my Master’s at Wheaton College in Humanitarian and Disaster Relief, this feels urgent. If I am prepared to study crisis relief and it is, in fact, where my heart lays, are my actions backing this up?

I have arrived at the conclusion that this is what the Lord is calling me to next. To be His hands and feet in this very tangible way. This time I am not traveling under the name of an organization. I am traveling just as myself, as a part of the global Church, with my friend.

I, of course, ask for your prayers as I will be serving in Romania. Prayers for the people I am serving, that they may feel an unexplainable Peace that only comes from the Lord. I ask for prayers for safety as we travel into Ukraine to deliver much-needed supplies. And I ask for prayers for endurance for the local church and local ministries who continue in this hard work.

Many of you were able to connect with me and pray for me at church and I cannot express how much that means to me.

This trip is about $2500 (I have $2,068 left to raise) for roundtrip airfare, lodging, and a small budget for food while there.
