Hi everybody!

As you know, about 3 months ago my whole squad, along with 500+ other missionaries associated with Adventures in Missions, were pulled off the field and brought back to America.

Everyone at Adventures in Missions (AIM) worked hard to evaluate the financial ramifications of needing to fly our whole squad, and countless others, home rather immediately and in the safest way possible, and have developed a plan moving forward.

As you all supported me along this whole journey, I wanted to update you the best I could regarding my plans moving forward.

We were given many options as to how we could move forward. There are obviously still many unknowns in creating any plans including the large variable of when international travel will be possible.

Several of my squadmates and I are looking at assisting in crisis relief in Southeast Asia. COVID-19 has been devastating for many places and in developing countries around the world, there are many people who are lacking the basics for survival.

We hope to be able to be stationed and an AIM base in Thailand or Cambodia to help meet these basic needs. I am tentatively looking at traveling in November. This will clearly depend on COVID and if international travel is allowed at that time. AIM will continually be evaluating the possibility of travel and I should have a bit more information by early August.

All of these plans and dates are held loosely as I move forward.

Aside from this, I will be leading a Semesters trip for the month of July. This is a one-month trip for 18-22-year olds. It typically takes place internationally, but again, due to COVID adjustments have been made.

I will be leading with a co-leader, Kirsten, and we will be going to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin with 10 participants. There we will serve alongside Bridgepoint Mission Center. Every year International students travel to Wisconsin Dells to participate in an international program. Currently, over 500 international students who came for this program are stuck in the US due to COVID and are unable to return home. Part of our ministry will be loving these students well during this challenging time. We will also assist in food distribution. The food pantry associated with Bridgepoint Mission Center is currently receiving 16,000lbs of food per week which they are distributing to families in need in the area.

I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for this season.

With love,

Kayla

  1. Wow I love you and I’m so excited for all the cool dreams and things God is leading you too!

  2. The campus ministry I work for had similar challenges. Good to hear you are able to pivot into new opportunities. If those are with other organizations and you need to raise money again, please let us know. Won’t be much, but we want to help as we can.

Although you have no idea who we are 🙂 … we used to babysit you and Noah when you were very young. Your parents were good friends and great people. Please tell them Karen & Matt Howell say hello! 🙂

  3. Kayla, you and your squad are doing great things for the Lord. May He continue to bless you all in the days ahead. I love you. ??
